Overnight Adventure: Hogfish Season Opener

Updated: Jun 12, 2021

This is what it's all about!!! Sailing south from Miami for 3 hours puts you in an anchorage that feels hundreds of miles away! We anchored the Badfish in our new favorite spot and Captain Robert pulled along side us in his 23' Grady White power boat and tied up for the night. After a fresh ceviche dinner from the fish we caught from our secret spot on the sail down, we all slept onboard the Badfish in her comfortable cabins. The next morning with the sunrise, we loaded our spearfishing gear onto the Grady White and we made it to the famous coral reefs of the upper Florida Keys in less than 20 minutes for the opening day of Hogfish season. We had our limit by noon and we were back to the Badfish for a swim, lunch, and a nap. Of course, Robert made his famous Cafe Cubano (cuban coffee) for us to power up for the second session of the day... Grouper!
